I have read weight distribution.the boat is dry no extra weight.its a clamp on moto.have motor lock in bottom hole moved it up and down, nothing.prop bushing is good.if I move the motor back away from ransom 4 inches do you think it will help. That's all the room I have.Long shaft motor.Does this make a difference. I'm lost. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

35 HP ought to run that 14' Skiff away. Sounds to me like mismatched rigging, prop, or some other thing.

What is rpm at WOT?
What is transom height?
What is AV plate height?

+1. That little Carolina Skiff should fly with that 35hp on the back. The anti-vent plate is located just above the prop and should be level, or slightly higher than the keel (bottom) of the boat. Most folks also find that the 2-3 tilt pin position, away from the transom, works best as well. Are you sure you're running on both cylinders? These old motors can work surprisingly well on only one can.

No, you absolutely CAN NOT check it wot on muffs. Don't even think about it. It might explode if you try.

22inches on AV plate to transom. 2inches below the bottom of hull

Move it up three inches. Start from there and trial and error. Same thing with trim.

What is the weight of the skiff? I'm guessing it's a fiberglass boat. What is the max HP on the ID plate. I'm thinking that boat needs a fifty.

The motor wing clamps are at the top of transom.I can raise it 3" but will take some modification. Will use cut wood to try if it works I can fiberglass in.
