83 johnson is that suppose to have a trailer bar lock for when i am trailering the boat the motor has something to rest on? right now i am just lifting the motor up until it locks and tie strapping it down so she wont bounce around. before i tied her down it bounced and broke the right side stern bracket. thanks

Re: 35 johnson question

I like to use a transom saver to support the motor....while there is usually some debate on here as to whether or not they actually protect the transom, the $20-$30 is to me a small price to pay for the peace of mind of knowing that my motor isnt bouncing around and that the tilt lock isnt going to fail while im trailering.

On my 87' 25hp johnny there is a little bar that flips down and rests on the tilt pin.....but its for shallow water motoring and not trailering.

just my .02
