350 mag water pump

Took boat out to the lake yesterday, and on the way back to the bank i heard a small squeel. i slowed down and it went away, so i thought that mabey some water got on the serpentine belt. So i sped back up after a minute and the squeel came back. I was about 50' to shore and the alarm went off and i shut off the engine. The temp on my guage only got to 200, so i don't think i hurt anything. My question is, on the driverside of the boat down low, i believe that is a water pump? If so, why would it have a pump there, another pump on the front of the block, and a pump in the lower unit? Also, is it hard to fix the pump with the pulley on it that is down low? I did smell rubber or some type of smell to that effect. If it got that hot would i need to change the whole pump? How much will this cost? thanks

Your engine probably has two water pumps (not three). The pump down low is called a seawater pump and it primes "seawater" (water from outside) to the main circulating pump. The problem is probably the seawater pump as it has a rubber impeller inside of it that rubs against the pump housing to create a seal (to help prime cooling system). These seals go bad relatively often as they may dry rot from sitting up for too long. But the impeller can probably be bought for $20-$30 and is fairly easy to replace.

I already had the impeller in the lower unit changed last month. The smell is coming from the pump inside the boat... I guess if the lower unit impeller went bad already, it would of damaged the pump in the boat?

does anybody know how much a circulating pump is going to cost me, and how hard is it to change? thanks

it's a 350 mag 5.7l mpi with a bravo 1. 1998 model vip deck boat...
