351 mercruiser with trs outdrive

Know nothing about i/o's. Just wanted to know what reputation a mid 70's 351 mercruiser with a trs outdrive has. Model 225 2RS-22253 Outdrive # 3548162. How many rpm's should it turn up? If it is fresh water cooled, what is the best way to run it out of water? Where could I find manuals on this engine? Thanks

I have a friend with twin TRS drives and Big Block Chevy 454s on his 79 Scarrab. The only issue these days are parts can be hard to comeby. I spent a ton of time trying to track down some tranny parts for him and it was near impossible and very expensive when we did finally find them.

jp6, I found a place in Bellingham Washinton that overhauls the TRS. I sent them one and they completely overhauled it. They fix them and then test it and adjust the reverse band all you have to do is re-install add fluid and your fixed. Also I couldn't believe the price of which I thought was reasonable, $800.00 plus shipping of about $50.00. <br /> I'm not sure I can tell you the business name on this thread, Maybe the mods will let us know, or you can pm me. I'll keep watching this post for info as to what we can do. Wayne
