I need some info I am having some issues with my starter it tends to hang once the motor is warm when i attempt to restart it. I know it is a bad thing but I want to find out what is wrong this weekend so I want to go pickup an auto starter before I order a new marine one but I am not sure if I should get a starter for a manual transmission or for a automatic transmission. I am hoping someone may no.

Thanks,
Yonu

Just get a bendix kit and fix it. If your starter still turns the engine over fine, that's all you need. Bendix hanging on a Ford is sort of common

Nope, just the bendix kit is all you should need. It's probably worn or rusty. Pulling it apart and getting a good dry lube might even do the trick

The bendix can get sticky. It's not driven by a solenoid on that motor unless I'm mistaken. The cars/ trucks of that era did not anyway. If that shaft gets dirty or rusty, then it can stick either way.. I've had it happen to a few Ford vehicles and heard that is why Ford eventually fully adopted the starter mounted solenoids
