Hi guys ,
took boat out with new old engine just purchased few weeks ago...
I already rebuilt carb because it had hard time idling changed lube gear look fine no water in it, pee hole has nice stream...
Now idles great raves up even better to top speed but...
feels like something skips like hitting bottom or something not all the time but like every 10 sec or so any help would be appreciated...
I do have repair manual but i can use any details how to go about it tnx..
It doesnt jump out of gear just skips...

sounds like you have a clutch dog going bad in your lower unit. I hope that you have an OEM manual because the Seloc and Haynes aren't very good.

How hard is it and do I need to drop the lower unit or just remove it from the propeller could you give me a few steps to get me started ??

Lower unit comes off. You will need a good snap ring pliers and you will go in from the prop side. give the manual a glance and you will see.

Is it a skip, like a cylinder misfiring, or a bang like you ran into something?

well while running in the water at the lake I had the top off to see if I could hear where it was coming from, and there wasnt any noise from the cylinders but more like a bump/jump if it makes sense
