I have a 1986 35hp 2 stroke. When I bought it the seller also gave me Mercury Autoblend. As near as I can tell This is an external oil injection system, but I can not figure how to hook it up.

There is a hot and ground wire, and a Fuel in and Fuel out. If I hook the leads right to the battery with out any oil, an alarm goes off. That makes sense it would be a low oil alarm.

What I am not sure of is where to hook the wires. If it is only an low oil alarm, I can hook it to the battery, but I do not know if it runs any pump inside of the system, If it does, where would I hook it up to?

Then there is always the question, should I even use it, or should I get rid of it, and premix.

Thanks in advance for any help

If i were in your situation,i would get rid of the autoblend and stick to premixing, everything that i've heard about the autoblend was negative, maybe one of the pros will add their 2 cents soon, they're are a knowledgeable bunch.

hello
I am not a pro. I worked on them a lot in the late 80's early 90's and I am positive. positive I will never own or work on an auto-blend again. trust me. premix. auto blend was a fine idea that failed a lot.
good luck and keep posting

Here's a twin to your engine.....it's on my 1964 Whaler

http://www.keltonkrew.com/graphics/enginestand2.jpg

get rid of the autoblend and just pre-mix your fuel....much safer and takes up less room. That autoblend is a bulky unit!

My inlaws had one on their pontoon boat which had the autoblend.....Mechanic recommended they dis-connect it. Too many problems, so when we visited them, I disconnected it and never looked back.

well the jury is in. For Sale 1 brand new 1986 autoblend unit. i guess I will just stick with premix. keltonkrew your right the unit is big, and it is on a 13' inflatable, with an external power trim unit. There is not much room.
