I was looking into buying a 1985 25hp johnson outboard.I was originally looking for a 30hp but I settled for the 25hp.. Now, what i was wondering is if by only changing the 25hp carborator with a 35hp carborator would that give me that extra 10 horse??? I heard that it was that easy and i was just wondering if you thought the same??

No expert here but would a carb increase the power on your car by what amounts to allmost
50%.I think on a car a carb and manifold
would give you about a 10% increase.
In my opinion if you want a 35 buy a 35.
With enough tinkering you can probably do it
But you could end up with a Frankinstiens
monster.

Differences on eighties Rudes/Johnnys are:

20 - 25 HP, carb and head.

25 - 30 Hp, intake manifold, leg exhaust tuning and thru-hub exhaust.

Changing carb on a 20 will boost power, on a 25 will give you 5HP with carb and intake manifold, last 5 HP from leg and hub, and 4 deg ignition timing.
