I hope I'm in the right topic here. I have a 1958 johnson 35hp that I need the electric start harness for. I say harness cause I don't have a better word for it. I know grubbs does mercury motors well, is there a good place for old johnsons? This thing is a nightmare to pull over and I would like to get it hooked up right for an electric start. If the harness is not possible to get, does anyone have any other suggestions for getting it hooked up? Thanks

Re: 35hp electrical harness

You could try Twin City Outboard for a used one.<br />If that were mine though, and it had no generator, then I would just make up my own harness. I guess the plugs on those engines were a bit of a problem, so I'd just bypass it. Then all you need is a fused circuit for the start switch and the choke switch, a marine solenoid, and some wire and terminal connectors. #4 for the starter and ground, and #12 for the rest (choke, start, mercury switch lockout, and two magneto wires if equipped).

Thanks Paul, I'll check with twin city and go from there.
