Hello to all,<br /> I'm needing a little info on this motor, it wants to bogg down when trying to go to full throttle and back fire. The carburetor<br />I think is a Tanaka and the numbers on it are 3JB. These are the only numbers i can find on the the whole outboard unit. I'm wanting to get a carb kit and any specific info as far as any adjustments to carb or throttle cable Thanks, <br /> Boo<br /><br />P.S. I'd buy a manual if I could

Boo, although Tanaka is no longer making outboards, they still have some support for them:<br /> Owners and Parts manuals<br />Since you say it's a 3hp, I think it must be the TOB-300, which remained unchanged from 1982 up into this millenium.<br /><br />You can try your local Tanaka dealer for parts (website will direct), or perhaps even your local mower shop will be able to get their hands on them. Tell 'em that a TOB-300 is a weed-eater though. :)

In case you come back and look here, check the end of the fuel line where ig connect to the 90 degree connector on the carb, there is a little rubber flapper there that likes to clog up and cause problems like you are having. I think I ended up cutting a small hole in the bottm end. Lots of years ago, like 35-36.
