I have an outboard. Johnson Seahorse. Model JW-15 Serial # 1923274. It has sheared the splines in the shaft and gear at the motor/drive shaft. Thus I want to order the correct parts (gear at motor and shaft to lower unit). what #s would I put in as part #s when placing an order. Thanks Dustman01.

You have a 1959 3HP, dustman. You won't be able to just order replacements parts like driveshafts or cranks for something that old. They've long since been No Longer Available.
There is no "gear at the motor" - the splined driveshaft goes straight into a splined receptical lower end of the crankshaft. Are you SURE it's munched? More often the stainless steel driveshaft strips its slines and leaves 'em in the crankshaft end. That crank is some serious steel. Some of the more experienced wrenches were advising a guy a while back on ways to try clearing the mess up without a full teardown. That was on a bigger, newer motor but their bag of tricks should work here too. Use the red SEARCH button at the top of this page and search the Johnson & Evinrude forum for "stripped driveshaft" or something similar.
Try eBay for parts. There was a guy last week parting out a JW series that heat seized. They're out there a lot. Also Twin City Outboards and a couple other outfits specialize in good used outboard parts. Do a Google.
I just posted asking for help locating "consumables" for a JW10 - carb kit and impeller. So make note of what we find out. But "consumables" like coils & carb kits & impellers are much more readily available than component parts like drveshafts & crankshafts. Good luck! Great little motor.

Re: 3HP I think?

Thanks itstippy, You are probably right, my shaft splines are probably whats making the crankshaft look stripped. Will take your advice on the searches. Really appreciate your putting me on track. Oh yeah this for giving me the year made.
Dustman.
