3ltr 1998 merc 225 EFI or 2002 200hp merc?

g'day looking to buy a 98 merc 225hp 3ltr EFI, never had a merc before
what are they like with reliability any problems or year models to steer clear from?
i also have a option of a 200hp merc 2002 model efi 2stroke
what would be the difference in pushing a 25ft trophy? between the two

Check the 98 over real good as they had a lot of updates and if it has the "D" shaped CDM modules I myself would give it second thought and it likes its fuel. I would go with the 02 model and underprop it size(500rpm over max rpm)
