I'm installing a tower on my 22ft Pathfinder and have four deck plates on the unit. The forward plates are over aluminum below-deck plates and will be drilled and tapped. The rear plates will be afixed to the deck only - with screws and adheisive (no below-deck plates).

Should I use 3M 5200 or 4200 for this application? Thanks guys!

I like the fact that 4200 is removable..........is the adheisive property of 4200 as good as that of 5200?

I don't know as either one is technically an adhesive so to speak. But will they glue stuff togather, absolutely the prob with them being an adhesive is their cure time is long, but once cured esp 5200 look out it is wicked stuff. There is a thread on here right now with a guy that has all of the bolts out of his outboard and the 5200 is holding it in place (not resting on transom about 1" above) I think the 4200 would be fine especially if you ever needed to take the tower off it would be possible with the 4200 prob not with the 5200. Which ever one you end up using make sure to clean the area real well first to acheive the best bond. Use acetone and wipe area real well and go for it. If you used the 4200 you could also put a dab on all of the screws/bolts/nuts to locktite them in and seal them up.
