According to a post on Boat Topics and Questions (not engine topics), 3M 5200 sealant is NOT sticking to stainless steel. I bought a kicker motor and bracket for my glass boat. I need to drill holes through the transom to install the 4 stainless steel bolts to hold the bracket. I looked for 3M 4200 in case I ever needed to remove the bracket but could not find it. I got some 3M 5200 at WalMart. Now I am afraid to use it?????

I did a search on this board and never found a straight authoritative answer about sticking to SS? If I put in the bolts and the 3M 5200 does not stick, wouldn't water seep into the wood beneath the gel coat?

What is the best solution? I figure those of you who restore boats have the best answer for this question.

Thanks,
McPhee
