3m or bondo fiberglass

hey guys just need more advice. is the fiberglass resin and mat at home depot good for my deck? which is better the mat or the cloth? I just used some and it seemed to fray quite a bit, not just the edges i cut but all over, maybe i mixed it wrong but i ended up with a big mess and after it was dry I had strands sticking up. What am i doing wrong? thanks again

HD resin is not good for that type of work.
It contains wax that has to be sanded down before the next coat goes on.
It also tends to be quite thick.

Unwaxed resin is the way to fly.
I use this stuff and discard the bottle of wax.

I never tried the HD bondo general purpose resin, but I have used the green can that they sell at Walmart and parts stores.

Besides the wax (which is great and horrible at the same time depending on the situation) it set up real fast.

I found much better deals at a local Auto paint store (Ben's) great resin only $23 a gallon.

Are you talking about mat or cloth being a problem?

Have you looked into getting some 1708? Makes life a lot easier then using mat and cloth.
