I checked the coil, both sides check out evenly. Approx 280 ohms each side. no shorts to ground. Other than the powerpack/regulator, what could be wrong? Thanks, please reply?

The insulator could be cracked on the spark plug. Or you might be testing for spark without removing all of the spark plugs. Or you might be trying to run the motor with automobile spark plug wires.

brand new champion plugs, no cracks. not automotive wires. both check out good with high quality dvom. any other ideas, or should I order the power pack?

did you try completely swapping the 2 coils. 10 minute job. if it follows the coil, you know the coil is bad, if it stays with top plug, power pack.

That about does it then, I can't swap coils because they are in one assembly. but since they check out the same, and i feel confident about eliminating everything else. Your input helped me decide to go for a power pack. Thanks. I'll let you know when I get it delivered. working this weekend.
