Hello. Trying to get a used boat I bought last fall seaworthy. I had a clicking from the slave solenoid on a 4.3 99 Crownline with a Carb. When key was in the on position, it would also make a low warning tone. Ran a bunch of checks and then found the battery would just not hold a load. Replaced battery with a proper marine unit, and started. Tone was gone, and unit fired right up. Did this a few times. Let the boat set for a few hours and I still get the warning tone, but the engine still starts. I am concerned that I might have a draw causing the battery to get a bit low, causing the tone and eventually killing it. The previous owner replaced the cluster. I can't imagine what type of draw might bring down a 1000 cca battery down over a short period of time. I can't find how low a voltage might cause the warning, no spec in the book or am I just barking up the wrong tree? Thanks for any help, this site is great, I am learning alot.

if your asking if your battery is discharging, that would mean something is on. if everything is turned off the battery can't be drained. You should have a switch to turn the power from the battery's to your boat off except for the power for the automatic bilge pump float switch, I have mine hooked directly to the battery.

That warning tone you are hearing I beleive is a safety circuit. It comes on when you have low drive fluid or no oil pressure or high engine temp. It is going off when you turn the key because there is no oil pressure yet. Does boat start and run fine?
