Simple issue starter ground...The ground is a stud on the back of the block and that stud is stripped next to the block,. I was having a ground issue and have isolated it apparently. But do I have a bigger issue...the stud itself..since I can no longer tighten the ground to the block.....does this stud serve any other purpose other tan a ground terminal or does it secure something such as a marine bell housing of sort...I am a bit to spun up right now to look at a schematic and really blow a gasket.

It is part of the bellhousing tightning bolts,not a big deal.
Just re-route the cable to the next bolt and use that for a ground.
You have enough other bolts and locating dowels to hold the BH in place.
