two questions

4.3 gxi fuel injected

has any one replaced the high psi pump and is there any thing to look out for or does some one know the step bye step procedure to replacing the high psi pump/

the second question is is it worth just replacing the one pump or is it best to replace the complete assembly at a considerable extra cost?

thanks

You don't mention the year, but some of those Volvo's can only be purchased/replaced as a unit.

What is the full model number (the letters after the 4.3GXi), or even the serial number will help. Year of your engine may not be the year of your boat.

4.3l gxi-b

Sorry late night last night

I got the two pumps mixed up. The low psi pump has high pressure marked on it.

Just a little more information. The fuse popped so we replaced it and then the low psi pump started to smoke out of the bottom. Unplug it and the smoking stops. Most of the marine shops and internet sites say the high psi pump can be replaced but the low psi pump has to be replaced as a unit.

It looks as fuel pump failure is common with these engines. Any recommendations on how to help longevity of the fuel pump.
