I have 1998 baylinter with the 4.3 engine. When I try to start it after a week it will fire and run for a second or two and then will not start. If I supply power to the fuel pump it will work. Once running it runs fine all day. I have searched the internet and found it is a common issue but not sure how to fix it (trying to avoid running a switched power source to the pump)
There is fuel in the carb and it does pump when I first start it. The problem is the fuel pump does no run with the key in the on postion.
I read a few posts but would like to confirm a few things. Ther are two power sorces, right? The ignition switch wiring should provide the intial voltage and then it uses the oil pressure switch when rinning.
Would it be the oil pressure switch if it runs fine after I get it going?
For the ignition circuit does the wire run from the key or does it start at the starter solenoid?
The boat is an hour away and not near a computer
