My 1993 4.3L V6 pops back thru the carb in a random but frequent rate. This occurs above 2600 RPM. I can run all day @2600 RPM but when I increase the RPM to 2700 and 2800 the popping back begins and I have to reduce the RPM to stop it. What to do ?

First I would check for water in the fuel / water seperator, and change the filter in the carb inlet line. Have a look at the spark plugs for a possible diagnosis there. Check ignition wires and all connections.
Here is a list of service bulletins for that year;
http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/Gas/index93.pdf

Thanks for the reply. I will check all of this. The symptom started out happening once or twice in a three hour outing. Sometimes not at all. Lately it is all the time.
