4.3 liter plastic timing cover no timing marks?

My motor has only one line on the timing cover and one on the balancer how do you time it? I know about jumping the wires for the base timing,I just am not sure about the timing marks because they don't exsist.My old motor had a steel chain cover and it had the timing marks.Should I just measure the distance from the TDC mark on the old cover to 8 deg BTDC and mark out the new cover or is that a bad idea?

The SB V8 version has the timing marks on the dampner. Sounds like yours are missing. Damper replaced at some point? You sould be able to purchase a timing tape for yours, and mark accordingly.
