First time posting, so go easy.

Got a 2007 Crownline with a 4.3 Mercruiser in June 2011. Runs great, no problems at all. Went out this past weekend and everything ran great, but towards the end of the day we would hear a random beep. This has never happened before. I have been researching and have found some information regarding the beeping, but have not found much on our particular situation.

It was not the twice per minute beep nor was it ever a constant beep. When we were heading to the dock, it did it a little bit more, but still no pattern. All gauges read fine and within range during every beep. No loss of power, boat was still running great.

Most of the threads and information I have read, people have either been having some engine trouble or have experienced some form of loss of power. We have neither, which makes me think it is a sensor/wiring problem, but still not sure.

Have checked and topped off all fluids, power steering was the only one that was not fully topped off. Have not had a chance to look at anything else, but wanted to see if anyone on here has experienced the same thing and/or has any comments or suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: 4.3 Mercruiser Audible Alarm

There are only 3 things that will cause the alarm to go off. High engine temperature, low oil pressure, and low gear lube reservoir.
You need to disconnect each one one at a time to find out which one is causing the beep.
Just disconnect the wire from the alarm switch (NOT to be confused with the gauge senders). The oil and temp switches should have a single tan/blue stripe wire too it. The gear lube monitor will have 2 wires. Either wire will work.
