4.3 Mercruiser Problem (s)?? New here!

Hey guys i'm new here and to boating. I just picked up a 1993 4.3 Bayliner Capri 1850 in very good condition. However, I am having some problems with it out on the water. The first problem is that sometimes when I hammer down the RPM's wont come up, like it cant get out of the hole. It will eventually pick up speed. The other problem that I am having is that after i'm up to speed and I adjust my trim up it seems to come out of gear or some kind of slippage and the motor revs out of control. I put it back in neutral and trim back down and im on the go again. Any help I would greatly appreciate!

Ayuh,... Who's motor,+ What drive...

It sounds like the motor is in dire need of a Full Tune Up,+ service...

its got the V6 Mercruiser 4.3 with the Alpha One drive.

--When I WOT it'll dog, then when I ease back the throttle a little bit, the RPMS will come up

Ok, I missed the Mercruiser in the title, Sorry...

Is it a 2bbl. carb or 4bbl.??

How long ago has it been Tuned Up,+ Serviced,..??

its a 4bbl carb...honestly I have no idea last time it has been tuned or serviced. The guy a bought it from was a friend of a friend and just never used the boat. I think it was only taken out once last year.

definately think about a tune up, including a carb rebuild/cleaning the accelerator pump in the carb will cause the bogging or lack of responce problem.

as for the high revving, sounds like you trimmed up the drive to far, or too quickly and letting the boat respond to the change, (part of learning) helps to have an engine on its game too.. If the trim UP isn't working and you used the Trailering button to trim up while underway and trim up too far you can damage some drive components.

could it be possible my fuel pump is going? I feel the closer the tank gets to E the more it acts up...
