I have a 1995 Bayliner Capri 1850 with the V6 on it. When i shut the boat off, it spits and sputters for 15-30 seconds then blows up a white puff of smoke and finally dies? Bad gas? How do i fix it? Carb issues? Any help would be appreciated.

When was the last time you had a tune up......(deja vu)......This could be caused by bad timing heating up your pistons to a point where the red-hot pistons will continue to ignite the fuel in the chambers. I would check the dwell first and then set the timing. (providing you have good plugs, rotor, wires, points, etc.)

Now if this was a car id say your timing is way to far advanced, your ingniton circut is cut, no spark leaving the only source of combustion to be heat, carbon, timing (predetonation) etc. You may want to check your cooling system, timing, perhap's some type of carbon reduction system for your intake system opp's timing chain (not really) yep id say a tune up, extensive one @ that.

Your motor is dieseling. Check that the engine compartment ventilation system (blower motor) is operating properly and allow the engine to idle for a couple of minutes with the blower motor on and then shut the engine off. If the motor hasn't had a proper tune-up this season, best get on that too.
