I have a 4.3 mercruiser that seems to run pretty good at home, but when I get it on the water it won't plane out. it does about 3k RPM then just drags along..
I've recently replaced the plugs, cleaned out the carb, put seafoam in, drained 80% of the gas and put new 93 octane in.
When its not in gear it will do 5k rpm or more, i'm wondering if the gas is still possibly bad? or maybe fuel pump? I took the pump(mechanical) out awhile ago and cleaned it out but the rubber seemed a little old but working.
The out drive and prop seem fine, its an alpha 1.
Edit: Forgot to mention i let it sit for a year, so the fuel had gunked up pretty good in the carb and fuel pump, has a new fuel filter.
