I had to replace the two water tube seals on my 1990 4.3 omc cobra 175 h.p. outdrive due to it having a overheating problem. I repaired the overheating problem but while the lower unit was still seperated from the upper unit, I found my 9 year old son turning the shift rod. Does anyone know if the shift rod has to be threaded all the way down in the home position or is it supposed to be thraeded a certain number of turns to acheive a certain measurement.
