4.3 temp question

My 1996 4.3 doesn't seem to heat up on the flush hose,is that normal? I havent put the boat in the water yet,I'm trying to make sure I'm not going to have a problem when I do,so every little thing i'm trying to go over.I don't know if it will build any heat in the lake because I only have ran it on the hose thus far.The temp reads 125 an that is the min on the gauge,and it never seems to climb.The motor doesn't feel hot either,its pretty warm on the risers/manifolds,but I would say its not very hot.I did instyall a brand new thermostat kit(Quicksilver). I just don't want to run it to cool and have it sludge up or run rough.
