I know this is an odd question because everyone is usually looking for more power. But, my current 1987 boat has a 3.0 liter mercruiser. I have opportunity to buy another 1987 boat that HAD a 4.3 liter mercruiser, but now is stripped of the engine, outdrive, ect.

Without questioning the performance drop in having a 3.0 liter in a boat that should probably have a 4.3 liter... how hard would it be to swap from a 4.3 liter mercruiser to a 3.0 liter? Would the stringers be in the way?

Re: 4.3 to 3.0

Shouldn't be........

Other than having to build up a spot to bolt the front motor mount,........

It should be a pretty simple Refit............

The gearing would be different, I'd say keep the outdrive off the 3.0 motor with it, to make it right if you can.

The outdrive is missing off the 4.3L boat anyways, so I think he is keeping the whole assembly out of the 3.0L boat.
