Hello Guys!

Just flushing my 4.3 Merc when done and click throttle trim switch to tilt up its doesnt respond in any way, switch doesnt work and there
Is no click sound either. So I would like to know If there is any fuse to look at or any point to start troubleshoot this. Trim just stop working at up/down switch.

As always thanks for any help.

If the up, down AND trailer switch are not working then I would suspect that you are not getting 12V to the switch.

If the trailer switch works and the trim switch does not you probably need to reset the trim angle sensors on the drive.

The boat in your signature isn't the one you're working on right now (that boat has an outboard).... If you can let us know what year your 4.3 engine is that would be a great start (4.3 was first used by Merc in 1984, and we are into the 4th generation now)..... Also can you tell us which pump you have (again, there are 4), and if it's single or dual solenoid.... I realise that's asking quite a bit, but to get the help you need for this problem, we need to know where to send you to look.... If you can supply the above information, it will save a lot of time.

(Photos of the pump and reservoir will be usefull in the above identification)

Cheers, Chris.......

Actually Chris, the boat at my signature was my first Glastron. My actual boat is a 2001 Sea Ray 18.5 right here

The I/O is a 2001 Mercruiser 4.3L Alpha One with serial # 0M083741

Again, when to the bay yesterday for a ride and evrything works great, everything. Once on my the driveway I tilt the outdrive down to flush the engine with fresh water, once done push switch (at the picture) to tilt it to up position but switch doesnt work anymore in in any way just like that, it feels like its stripped. (loose)

and this is the power trimp pump, for any reason seems there is an electric problem regarding the switch. i check the fuse here and looks perfect

thanks for any help

The first thing I would check would be continuity on your wiring. Make sure you have continuity between your switch and the solenoid. If you're not hearing even a slight click sound when you press your trim switch, I would bet that's probably your issue. If you do have a click, or even a strained (weak) click, and your trim doesn't raise or lower, then I bet your solenoid is on the way out. I paid $27 for one at a local outdoor shop, and had it on in 20 minutes. If it's none of the above, and the pump decided to leave you on the dock, then do a refurbished search, or find a donor boat. It's not preferable, but those pumps are pricey. I'd be willing to bet it's either loose wiring or a bad solenoid though.

Oh, and if you're not comfortable with using a multimeter to ohm your wires, then invest in a good continuity tester you can pick up at nearly any electrical store. One end connects a light and/or a audio alarm, and the other end sends a small electrical current through the wires. If it has continuity, you'll see the light or get an audio response. Pretty handy tool to keep around the house.

I'd suggest you "jump" (bypass your switch on throttle) straight to your trim motor, take loose piece of wire from battery- touch it to up and down switches (solenoids) on the trim motor.., "green-grass=down, blue wire "sky=up". that will tell you your pump and trim motor is good... rest is runnin down the short .... its a quick check and you wont blow anything up,, at least I have not yet :D

I just found that the switch on the throttle is broke, thats why its feels stripped, loose. take a llok to the pictures below. Any one have idea where to find just the switch or I have to change the whole trim wiring harness from throttle to pump?

Pretty sure that switch is available but need to know what box. You could install a momentary toggle in the dash to operate the trim/tilt .where is the "trailer button"?
Usually there is a plug behind the side panel

Remote part number is 1458900 - Control Rem Thrtl/Shift CLSC 4000 W/Conn as listed on Owners Manual

What you are reffering to Trailer Button?

That's a 4000 series controller. Part# for the switch is 87-858679T1. Will set you back about $60.
THIS should be a exploded view of your control.
