Hi all,
So the symptoms are as follows:
On the left hand bank, totally normal amount of fumes when running (some blow-by fumes when the engine is hot and running at speed)
On the right hand bank of cylinders, a fairly steady release of fumes once the engine is warm. This is the engine that had the inlet manifold gaskets replaced, so I originally thought there were some remnants of water in the oil, and it was burning off of the last of the water. I thought the fumes where white, but maybe it is oil.
Compression appears to be great in all cylinders. A solid 170PSI in each.
Engine starts on the button, and runs great, with plenty of power.
I'm not seeing obvious signs of smoke coming from the exhaust when it's running;
About 20-30 minute run at ~75%-WOT usage will see the oil level drop from upper to lower marks.
So, I'm a little perplexed. If this was blown piston rings, I'd expect the blow-by fumes to be coming from both the vents in the rocker covers.
A valve stem seal could be at fault, perhaps, but that would be a smokey start, and not so much fumes when running.
A dodgy head gasket would see a lower compression in at least one cylinder...
any suggestions very welcome!
Thanks in advance.
