Hi all

with the manuals removed from the adults only section, does anyone know where i could down load the original Mercruiser manual for a 2000 4.3 EFI V6 Mercruiser engine.
Or is anyone able to post the part relating to installation of cylinder heads and intake manifold. I
I plan to install these in the morning however there seems to be some conflict between my seloc manual and the information supplied with the gasket set. Im looking for a tie breaker :)
Thanks for any help.

No Fuss

Re: 4.3 V6 original merc manual

Thanks much, I was having problems understanding how the metal inserts in the intake manifold gaskets work, and then i realized that they are not used on my engine, thats y they were not making sense. Then they were saying to use a fast drying sealer on the intake manifold to stick the gasket in place allowing it to dry totally before installing manifold. which i am not sure i agree with.

I was able to find the manual on another site, PM me if u need one a lot of them are there still.
merc says to use perfect seal on the gasket surface and the RTV on the sides of the block and install and torque one time. I plan to use permatex ultra copper RTV on the block, and permatex Indian head on the gasket surface. I dont usually like the idea of using sealants on new gaskets but i guess they are necessary here.
I was also thinking of using the indian head around the intake ports and the ultra copper around the water ports. was wondering if the dissimmilar sealers would pose a problem on the same gasket face. But then they say to overlap the RTV 1/2 inch on to the manifold gasket so i guess no.
I also plan to use a skim of ultra copper on the riser gaskets as I believe this is another problematic area.
If anyone sees any reason for me to do differently please let me know. we dont have perfect seal here, and it would take another week or 2 at best for me to get some. as such the indian head shellac would have to work.
Due to bad weather I was only able to mount up the heads, install valves etc, but could not install on boat, hopefully we would get better weather tomorrow.

No Fuss :)

better to ask all the stupid questions and be thought of as a fool, than to go ahead and do the thing wrong and confirm it ;-)
