Re: 4.3l 4.3lx 4.3lh??
Just to add some fuel to the confusion, lots of parts changed and trying to figure out which part is different on which engine you would have to do yourself. There are some head changes, cam changes distributor changes etc over the years. Here is some other info.

All 4.3's use the L designation to indicate liters. (4.3L equals 262 cu. in.)
This designation was used between 1988 to present time to show engine size only.

The 4.3LX designation started in 1988 till 1992 and had a 4bbl carb.

The 4.3LX (Gen II) designation was used between 1992 and 1996 and had a 4bbl carb.

The 4.3LX (Gen+) designation was used from 1996 to 1997 and had a 2bbl carb.

The 4.3LXH (Gen+) designation was used from 1996 to 1997 and had a 4bbl carb.

The 4.3LH (Gen+) designation was started in 1998 and is still used. Both 2 and 4bbl carbs on same engine. Both have 190 HP rating as shown in service manual #25.

From service manual #18 for 4.3L engines between 93 and 97 here are the HP ratings.
4.3L -- 155
4.3LX - -175
4.3LX (Gen+) -- 190
4.3LXH (Gen+) --205

The Gen +. Gen II, designations showed not only engine changes but options available.
