I just purchased a reman 4.3L to replace my 1995 4.3L. The aft lifting eye on my old engine won't fit on the new one since I'm going from a 12 bolt intake to an 8 bolt intake. I was going to purchase the new lifting eye but I can't find any reference anywhere for one that goes on an engine with an 8 bolt intake. Does anyone out there have a later model engine with the 8 bolt intake that can tell me what you use to hoist it up for installation in the boat?

I would just use a piece of chain and some longer bolts.

I'm sorry, the title should say AFT lifting eye. Obviously the forward lifting eye from the old engine is compatible with the new one

Ayuh,.... There's some 3/8"-16 bolt holes in the back of the head, use a 3/8" bolt, 'n chain to there, 'n forget about the liftin' ring that pulls on the intake bolts,...

If you're looking for the genuine Merc part, it has part number -865480T, and it just bolts onto the back of the head.
