I currently have a 1990 4.3 chevy, with manual fuel pump. Now considering another block, and these older blocks are not readily available. So I may use a later version block, but without the manual fuel pump hole. Will need an electric fuel pump. If I use one, where is the safety feature, to turn it off with any accident, to prevent fuel from being pumped. Has anyone done this lately? Would appreciate any info. thanks

You would need a relay to shut off the fuel.

There is a plate available to block off the fuel pump hole.

i worked in a engine machine shop some years ago and we would drill the boss in the new style blocks so a mechanical fuel pump could be used, i fell sure any good auto machine shop could drill one for you since they all have the casting boss there

Most electric fuel pumps use an oil pressure cut off switch. No oil pressure, no fuel pump.

Ayuh,...

As noted by Scottdock,...
Power is run Thru an Oil Pressure Switch.....
No motor Running,... No oil pressure,... No fuel pumping....
