Hello,
I have a 1996 Ebbtide 185 with a 4.3L carbureted Mercruiser that cracked the block and replaced with a used 2007 MarinePower 4.3L MPFI with a MEFI-4. The engine will not start without giving the TB full open by hand. I've replaced all injectors, both fuel pumps, plugs, cap, rotor, and all sensors. I've traced wires until I see them in my sleep. I sent the ECM off to MarinePower and they checked it and said it's good with no codes. What do you experts think?
My guess is that it's a timing issue. However, I checked timing and it's right at 10 degrees. The marker has one point, not several lines with before and after on them, and I used my adjustable timing light and used the dial until the tab mark lined up with the line on the balancer. My dial read 10 degrees. And the distributor looks like it doesn't turn, it's set to one position, unlike the older distributors. Maybe the timing is set by computer?
