Just bought a 1990 Sunbird Corsair 185 with a 4.3 Liter OMC Cobra. Tilt worked when I bought it this morning...pulled it home and now it's stuck in the up position. What could it be? Any ideas? It worked just hours ago!

Thanks!

Is the pump still running? Can you hear it?

Yes, you can hear the pump motor running...everything else on the boat is working fine as well.

I have seen a couple drives get stuck in the full up position.
Try having someone stand on the lower unit while you press the down button.
It has worked for me a couple times..

Did the seller maybe have those plastic clips on the trim rams for trailering?

We tried standing on the the lower unit while pushing the down button...and no, there are no plastic clips.

Is there any hydrolic fluid or anything that could be the source of the problem? Also, do you know how to get a diagram or schematic of the tilt motor or tilt pump? It's a 1990.

The trim pump is usually mounted in the engine compartment to the right side of the engine. Mounted to the floor or transom.
It has a flathead screw on the side that is where you put fluid in.
Opening it may relieve the pressure.Have a bunch of rags ready.
It sounds like a valve inside the pump itself has stuck.

It should look like this one....
