4.3L OMC Cobra - What's it Worth?

My family has a 1988 Stingray SVB-192 with a 4.3L OMC Cobra. The cosmetic condition of the boat is really GREAT considering its age, only around 600 hrs I believe. The floor seems really solid and we have never had one ounce of trouble out of the engine/outdrive except have the coupler go out (now twice). We assume the coupler going out is due to a rotten/rotting transom that is allowing excess movement between engine and outdrive.

So my question is, what would the boat be worth as is, it seems it would make a great project boat for someone, since the floor, hull, engine, & outdrive (just needs a coupler) is in great condition. It just not something I have time to do and it seems that with OMC parts getting harder and harder to find it might actually be worth something as a parts boat. Might even be interested in selling the motor/outdrive completely separate. What would you do if it were you boat?

This is not my boat, but it is very similar, I hope to get some pictures of our boat on here soon.

The parts in the boat could be worth quite a bit. For example if the exhaust manifolds are good they can fetch $400-$600 each!! on eBay. The drive is another $1000-$1500. Etc Etc. The hull, with the rotten transom is basically valueless.

To the right buyer, the OMC parts may have a decent amount of value to keep their OMC going.

To someone looking for a complete package project boat, they would be off to a bad start with a presumably rotten hull (rot typically doesn't stop with the transom), and an obsolete powertrain.

Just out of curiosity, when you've replaced the coupler, you did use an alignment bar to check the engine alignment to the gimbal bearing, yes?

To be honest, I am not quite sure, my dad had the work done by a local boat mechanic. That was the first and last mechanical job ever hired out on the boat, that's been 10-12 years ago now.
