2009 Tahoe Q5i with just over 100 hours on the 4.3L TKS Carb. Have never had any issues but yesterday it appeared to be miss firing here and there and was very hard to restart and get reved up out of idle (stalled a few times). Finally, I could not get it started and we had to get towed in. The boat did sit in a rain storm and when I lifted the engine cover water poured onto the distributor...

After I got it home I pulled a plug and it looked ok and dry. The tether is hooked up. It turns over fine but I get no spark at the plug, distributor, or ignition coil? Thus, is it the ignition coil? Another possible symptom is that it never got hot when running it yesterday? Unrelated t-stat stuck open or perhaps it was just never running right? Where to start? Pull distributor and replace? Any troubleshooting steps I can take to determine what it is for sure?

Just opened the distributor... filled with condensation. Gasket had a crack in it. Hope this does it. Still can't find the thermostat?

Ayuh,... The T-stat is in the T-stat housing, forward center of the motor, just ahead of the carb...

got it... tried the tan wire trick and the gauge pegged over. What do you think it is? t-stat stuck open? Bad sender?

So back to the not starting issue (made new thread for temp gauge issue), it has been running like new since I cleaned out the water in the distributor. I did order a new cap, gasket and rotor since there was some corrosion starting. Thanks guys.
