4.3LH just quit while trolling

First off- let me thank anyone who can help out. I wish I could add some value to this forum as I have been lurking and posting spradically over the past 2 yrs. The info on this site is tremendous. Seems I only post when there is a problem- well- here is another one!
My motor just quit- no warning- while trolling yesterday. It is a 1998 Mercruiser 4.3LH with a 4bbl carb. I am a pretty good shadetree mechanic on this motor- (so far this year- fuel pump, starter,water pump, spun prop, hydraulic trim pump). I did some diagnosing while waiting for SeaTow (excellent service anywhere in Massachusetts!!!). There is gas to the carb, no water in the separator, I am getting spark from the coil but none to any of the spark plugs. Can someone point me in a direction as to what the issue may be? Could it be the ECM? Thanks again in advance for any advice as to where/what to check next.

if your getting spark out of the coil (and good hot spark that will jump at least 1/2 inch. Not a weenie little light spark) but not to the plugs then obviously the problem is between the 2.
Pull the distro cap, how's it look in there? Nice and clean or all dirty. With the cap off turn the engine over just to make sure the rotor spins. And check all of your plug wires with a digital multimeter. Especially the one between the coil and the cap.
