43H0A Chrysler outboard
Purchased 4/81
I am having intermittant smoking problems - white smoke, not blue from the oil.
I can run the motor in a barrel and it seems ok.
End of last year, I filled the motor with fresh fuel and oil mixture, put the motor on boat and headed to lake. Ran 2 -3 minutes under load to get away from dock. Everything ok. Sailed around for an hour, then headed back towards dock. After several minutes of running under load (3/4 - full throttle), motor started smoking, lost power, died, and would not restart.
Checked cooling system passageways several years ago when motor began smoking intermittantly. All clear.
Is this a raw water cooling problem or a fuel mixture / carb problem? There is an aftermarket fuel filter in place.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
