It seized up this year, but ran fine after a 10-minute cool down. It appears to not be getting sufficient water. Is there a way to blow air to clear the water way or will I have to tear down and replace the pump? Any information appreciated. Thanks.

elrw2,

You really should replace that pump. Not much in terms of $$$.

You may have also comprimised the head and exhaust cover gaskets. A very light touch in re-torquing those may go a long way. Remember, the torque spec's are in inch pounds NOT foot pounds.

Replacing the waterpump impeller will take you a half-hour at most and you should get change back from a $20 bill for the impeller. Try your local library for a general service manual. It's a pretty straight-forward job, but there are a couple of little tricks to watch out for... like greasing the splines and replacing the o-ring at the top of the driveshaft.
- Scott
