A friend of mine just a boat with a Honda 9.9 four-stroke. After starting the engine he noticed it was not spitting out any water. His question is should a four stroke start spitting water just like a 2-stroke or is there a thermostat ona 4-stroke? I don't know the answer so if someone does it would sure be a help.

Yes, it has t'stat and should run water as soon as it is started. Remove the cowling and check the hose to the pee stream.

Re: 4-stroke cooling question

Thanks for the answers guys. he had hooked a " FAKE A LAKE" to the water pickups and it would not pee. He called the man he bought the boat from and he told him it would not work that way and to put the foot in a garbage can filled with water. It worked great. It must have been sucking air from somewhere the other way. Thanks again.
