Anyone know if replacing twin 1990 johnsons (1000 hrs.) with 2 suzuki 4-strokes on a '85 25 mako center will be complicated. The boat currently has the motors hung open transom style with tilt, I'm hoping to put the suzis in the same spot. Also is there any value on these motors for trade in. Thanx.

From what HP to what HP? Weight would be the only real consideration. Fuel consumption would be reduced or range would be greatly increased. Other than simple stearing hardware differences or new control cables, cross over should be fine. Trade in value of older motors highly depends on condition. You would be better jus' to sell the engines outrite to a individual and probably get a greater amount of money.

emptybox,

Sounds like a good fit. The John/Zuki's are a bit heavier, however they are also narrower.

Thanx for the vote of confidence. When you say a bit heavier, do you have any reason to think it will alter the attitude of the boat to the point of poor performance?

emptybox,

I don't think so, you may be adding 100 to 200 pounds.

Thanx. Then weight shouldn't be a problem, as I only fish with skinny girls from the cheetah!
