4 Stroke V 2 Stroke Oil..may Have F'D Up

Evening All,

Went to my local auto supplier today and by mistake bought Valvoline Syn 4 stroke oil. I was after 2 stroke oil.....bugger. Question is can I use the 4 stroke oil in my Johhny 98 2 stroke? My guess is not.

Lessee now, how much did you pay for that oil? And how much is your '98 motor worth? Even if you are able to get away with it, is it worth the chance you take?

If I were you, I'd use the oil in my car where it belongs.

The only way I would use that oil is if it was a dire emergency and I had to get from point A to B by boat. It might work but why risk it. Just take it back and explain you mistake or use it in your car.

no!use 2 stroke oil.though in a dire emergency i know for a fact my brother used 10/30 car oil in his yammy oil inj 60 to get home with no ill effects from a camp 30 miles up a large unoccupied river from camp..not recommended though.

Fact is it does not mix like 2 stroke oil. We used to use regular oil in 2 stroke motorcycles many years ago but it was prone to separate. Had to rock the motorcycle side to side each use to make sure it was mixed.
These are just my findings though.

prior to TC-W3 outboard oil, pre mid 50's, we did use 30wt 4 stroke oil. the outboards smoked like mosquito foggers. we also used "white gas" all it was, is unleaded gasoline, it was made by Amoco, back then. also burnt it in coleman latterns.
