40 Horse Jonhson dies out when at mid to high throttle

My 40 Horse Johnson dies out when it is at mid to high throttle. i was told my caburator may need to be cleaned, or my float may be stuck letting in too much gas and flooding it out. Please give some suggestions. Thanks

When your engine starts to die squeeze the primer bubble in your fuel line if the engine continues to run ok the your fuel pump needs replacing
