40 hp 1975 johnson. 25'' shafts, question.

Good morning.
I have a 40 hp from 1975 with 25'' shafts, this motor have one extencion.
My question is.
How I can combert this motor from 25'' to 20'' shafts.

Sorry to question you but are you sure it's a 25" shaft? With 1 leg extension it sounds like a 20" shaft. Would be kinda rare to have a 25" shaft on that motor I think.

Sorry if I'm wrong...just wondering.

You'd need to get a different driveshaft,Exhaust seal tube,shift shaft,water tube and a 20 inch extension,Or go on ebay,call motor bone yards and get a long shaft lower with the extension.

I'll add that extra long shaft kit is worth some $$$$$ to the right boat owner,I'd sell the whole motor and replace it with a used of your choice,You'll be money ahead. sail boats are your targeted sale.
