It depend's on what type of boat your pushing, but that sound's like a good set-up to me.

Yep.

Assuming;
Your tach is correct --
Your using a 17" prop --
And you are at less than 1% slip.

Dahdley
Obviously there must be some formula that you used to reach your conclusion.

I don't have a tach fitted to my boat yet, could I find out what my revs are by using this formula with all the information that I do have?

I'm running a two cylinder 55 hp Johnson on a hefty 17ft tri hull boat. My top speed is just over 30 mph and my prop is 11 3/4 X 17.

Thanks
Steve

Ah ha! We dont know the tach is correct since there isnt one! Lol!

Sreiously, we could come close but we'd only be guessing at the slip %. It could be 12% or 20% or.......

We can calculate the slip but we have to know the correct rpm's, correct speed (that is speed by a GPS, right?) and the gear ratio. Thats how we achieve efficiency, reducing the slip %.

Pretty good guess on the pitch size, huh?
