I ordered a new water pump impeller, discharge tube gromet,
and an O-ring for my 1975 40 HP Evinrude 40555C, that
has the 5" lower unit extention.
I have a couple of questions-
On the parts diagram, I see no gasket shown or available
that goes between the water pump housing and bottom plate.
Mine has one, but it's in bad shape. Is there suppose
to be one?
Regarding the water pump discharge tube - The bottom
of the discharge extention tube goes into a grommet on
the top of the pump housing. (that I ordered new).
When I took the lower unit off,
the top of the water pump discharge extention tube
slid over another tube going up to the engine, but
there was no hose or seal of any kind sealing the
two tubes where the joined together.
The diagram looks like it's showing an O-ring, but
I don't see how it would work. Or is the 0304174 O-ring for
something else?
