40 HP Johnson - which carbs will work?

Hello folks. I'm rebuilding a Johnson outboard J40TELESR and the carbs are hopelessly corroded inside. My only option seems to be to replace the entire carb assemblies but the original parts are not available. Does anybody know which carbs might work with this model?

Welcome to iboat's pontoonme!
I am not sure of what part numbers will interchange with your carbs. From you're model number it looks like you have a 1990 year motor. Sometimes carbs can be found on ebay, and here is a link to some salvage yards that may help also. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=438822

Thanks for the welcome and reply Cofe. I see there's some very cheap brand new carbs on ebay, but I don't know if they will work with my model motor. Hoping someone might know about exchanging carbs from different models...?

Here's a little more info in case it helps. Original carbs are part # 432439. Looks like they were superseded by part # 432437 but they are also obsolete now. I found a new carb for sale with part # 432137 and the body looks identical but no idea if it will work. Anybody know what the internal differences would be?

Ok, so it turns out the 432137 carb was used on the 45 HP RCLESR model. Seems like a close match to horsepower and model type but I'm flying blind here. Really just posting in case this thread helps someone else.
